And, of course, we count the almost the opportunities that came close but never quite landed, the prayers that felt unanswered, the dreams that stalled just before the finish line. Reflection is important. It grounds us. It reminds us where we’ve been. But reflection becomes dangerous when it turns into comparison. Too often, as we look back, we don’t only measure ourselves against our past we measure ourselves against other people’s journeys. Their progress. Their timelines. Their applause.
